Functional Safety Certification for Microchip’s PolarFire® FPGAs Speeds Time to Market
Certified tool flow and safety data package available for both IEC 61508 SIL 3 and ISO 26262 ASIL D standards

Microchip Technology (Nasdaq: MCHP) has received a Functional Safety certification from TÜV Rheinland®, an independent third-party testing and certification organization. With the functional safety package, hardware and system developers of safety-critical automotive and industrial applications can speed their time to compliance with IEC 61508 SIL 3 and ISO 26262 ASIL D standards with Microchip’s Libero® SoC Design Suite 2023.2 SP1, which can be utilized with PolarFire® FPGA and SoC families.

Microchip’s safety package includes design flows, supporting documentation and certifications to minimize risks for customers and reduce time to market. The functional safety package gives engineers a head start on completing the certification process with development tools and methodologies that have been pre-certified as adherent to industry safety standards. While technological system failures can't be completely ruled out, implementing functional safety measures can mitigate hazards and help make failures safer when they do occur.
