Certified end-to-end validation of eCall systems across 2G, 3G, and 4G networks

ANRITSU CORPORATION announces that its Hybrid eCall evaluation solution, featuring the eCall Tester MX703330E, has obtained industry-first*1 European EN 18052:2025 certification following testing by cetecom advanced, a leader in electronic equipment certification. The certification confirms reliable end-to-end validation of Hybrid eCall systems operating across 2G and 3G circuit-switched and 4G packet-switched networks.

This certification enables automotive manufacturers and suppliers to more efficiently validate Hybrid eCall systems in line with European regulatory requirements, supporting robust emergency call performance across mixed network environments.

About Hybrid eCall
Hybrid eCall technology combines high-speed 4G (LTE) packet switched communications with conventional 2G (GSM/GPRS) / 3G (W-CDMA) circuit switched networks, automatically selecting the optimal access technology to maintain emergency call continuity.  With compliance to Next Generation eCall (NG eCall) mandatory for all new EU vehicle type approvals from 1 January 2026, validation across heterogeneous network conditions has become a critical engineering requirement for the automotive industry.

The eCall system automatically places an emergency call from a vehicle following an accident. The in-vehicle system sends essential information, including vehicle data and location, to a public safety answering point (PSAP), enabling emergency services to respond rapidly and effectively.

About EN 18052:2025 Certification
EN 18052:2025 is the European standard defining end-to-end conformance testing for eCall services operating in hybrid environments with coexistent circuit-switched 2G and 3G networks and packet-switched 4G networks. The standard verifies correct interoperability and communication performance across all constituent elements of the eCall service, including in-vehicle systems (IVS), mobile network operators (MNO), and public safety answering points (PSAP).

Obtaining EN 18052:2025 certification demonstrates that Anritsu's Hybrid eCall evaluation solution satisfies relevant European laws and regulations requirements for eCall services.

Product Outline
This all-in-one Anritsu solution provides an integrated PSAP simulation environment for testing Hybrid eCall-compatible in vehicle systems (IVS). The main configuration includes:
     • Signalling Tester MD8475B
     • eCall Tester MX703330E
     • NG eCall Software Option
     • Hybrid eCall Software Option
